Breathing exercises, or pranayama, have physical as well as energetic benefits. Practicing modifying our breath expands our breathing capacity. Depending on the specific technique, breath awareness or breath modification can soothe the nervous system, enabling us to be more resilient to stresses and anxiety. Calming our breath tells our mind that we are safe. Energetically, prana or life force, travels on the breath, so expanding our breath capacity increases prana and facilitates its extension throughout the body.
In this short session, we’ll practice breath awareness and even breathing or sama vritti, leaving you feeling more calm and centered.
