Taminaschlucht – Switzerland (Metabones BMPCC EF Speedbooster Test)
Wonderful, and extremely challenging, scenery to try out the Metabones EF Speedbooster. All of the inside shots taken with a Canon EF 28mm f1.8, ISO mostly 200 with occasional shots at 400 with a 360 degree shutter.
I found the Speedbooster was quite often under exposing so I ‘tricked’ it by holding my hand in front of the lens to open the aperture up when pressing the iris button. Most of the time this gave better results but there were times when this blew out the highlights – but this was an extreme environment with a huge difference from the bright sunlight coming in to the dark of the gorge.
The lens was opening up to about f1.1, which meant the DoF was fantastically shallow sometimes – good thing the BMPCC has focus peaking, but I didn’t nail it every time 🙂
Overall I’m really impressed with the EF Speedbooster.
Tech
Camera – BMPCC
Lens – Canon EF 28mm f1.8
Edited with Davinci Resolve Lite 11 beta, small amount of sharpness and no colour correction. Most shots have no luminance adjustment – the couple with blown highlights have just a touch of curve adjustment.
