Social media: bereaved parents tell Starmer ‘put children before big tech’

When it comes to keeping children safe online, there needs to be a “game changer”, the Prime Minister acknowledged today. Keir Starmer met with bereaved parents who are campaigning for a ban on social media for the under-16s.

The government’s consultation on the issue closes tonight – having prompted the second-largest response of any consultation in British history, and ministers have promised action before the end of the year.
